K is for King - Carole King

Yes, I was a product of the late 50’s so I was a teen during the 70’s. Carole King was one of my favorite singers. I loved her sound. She was a very talented singer, songwriter and pianist. During the 60’s she wrote a lot of songs for other singers.

Her album Tapestry that was produced in 1971 won four Grammys and it stayed on the charts for six years. Tapestry was one of my favorite songs. It topped the US Album Chart for 15 weeks in ’71. In 1961 she had her first #1 hit as a songwriter at 18 years of age. It was “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” which she co-wrote with Gerry Goffin.

She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her songwriting. She holds the record for the longest time for an album by a solo female to remain on the charts for Tapestry at 306 weeks.

Just thought I would give you a little trivia, please feel free to listen to a few of her songs. Nothing like walking down memory lane!

I love me some Carole King music!

until next time...nel

  4. I think anyone who has ever heard Carole King is a fan. LOVE her music. At my son's wedding rehearsal dinner we had a video of son's childhood photos and it was set to the music of CK, "Child of Mine". Talk about a tear-jerker!
