Finding the Hodgepodge...

Can you believe it is Easter already  I am so ready for spring!  You better join in this week, we are on Easter break next week.  And you know you will miss it!

1. What are your plans for Easter? Are you cooking a big lunch or dinner?  Dyeing eggs? Attending a sun rise service?  Eating too much chocolate?
We do not really have any special plans for Easter, since it is just us old people. lol   We will be going to church and Evening Service is quite special.  We will have Communion and foot washing.  Then a singing service and food afterwards.  Should be a special night with church family!

2.  What is something you feel too young to do?

Let my hair go completely gray and it would if I let it.  :(

3.  "Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud...it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs..."

Of the characteristics mentioned in the biblical definition of love which do you find most difficult to live out and why?

I think probably no record of wrongs or easily angered.  I have to watch myself, I tend to want to correct things, and when I see things repeated I tend to mention them.  The problem is I see the big picture and not everyone sees the big picture.  And at times I am easily angered, just little things, sometimes stupid things.  I try to bite my tongue, maybe that is why my mouth gets sore sometimes.  lolol

4. What's a springtime flower you associate with your childhood?
Tulips - we always had tulips planted outside.

5.  Ever sung karaoke? If so, what's your go-to song? If not and you're given the opportunity, would you?
I have never.  I might try it sometime depending on who is around.

6. What is something you keep in a basket?

I have a basket in my bedroom that has magazines and photo books in it.

7.  When was the last time you felt foolish?
This afternoon, I was crocheting a cowboy boot and did not realize I messed up until I was done.  The pattern did not match, I got started going the wrong way.  So I had to make another one.  OOOPS

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Life is good!  Eden Jade stayed with us in Arkansas from the time we got there til we came home.  She and Cain are really growing.  Cain spent time with his mom, they were on Spring break.  I have a few pictures to share, just to show how big they are getting.  There is also one of my daughter, it shows her belly, she may kill me.  But she is only 9 weeks along and already is showing.  I love it!   Hope all of you have a wonderful Easter!  Here they are!

This is the pair I made for our baby!  Janice loved them!

Isn't that cute! I love it!
The kids have named this one Batman.

Just Checking In...

What a busy week!  I have been celebrating my birthday all week.  We went out for a wonderful dinner Tuesday night.  When we got home I spent an hour or so reading my birthday greetings on Facebook.   There were over 100...totally blew me away!  I did not even have time to do a Hodgepodge post.  Tonight we are going to see the Gaither Vocal Band!  I can't wait, it will be my first time to hear them in person.  If you would like you can listen to one of their songs here.

In the middle of all this I had to type two church bulletins since we would be gone 2 Sundays and get ready for a trip to Arkansas.  We leave in the morning.  Good times!  Can't wait to see my grands!  We will return home next Thursday, then off to Iowa next Friday.  Stan's grandson is getting married.   It will be great to see them also!  God has truly blessed us!

Nothing like family, friends and the Lord!

Marching into Hodgepodge...

It's that special time, you know that time that Joyce makes us think, it's a lot of fun, we would love to have you join us.

1. My real life friends came through with another question this week so thank you real life friends. When you've eaten in a restaurant do you complete their comment card? Do you take online surveys highlighted at the bottom of store receipts?
I usually do not pay any attention to the comment cards.  Sometimes I do the online surveys.

2. The (US) ban on women in combat was lifted at the end of January. It will probably be next year before specifics are worked out, but its been reported over 200,000 front line positions will eventually open up to women.  Your thoughts?
I am not sure how I feel about it.  I am not sure us women have what it takes to deal with all of the outcomes of battle.  We are little softer-hearted than men and things tend to bother us a little more.  I don't feel like this is what God had intended when he made woman from man's rib.  Just my opinion for what it is worth...

3.  In looking back at all the blog posts you've written, what's your favorite post title
Enjoying The Little Things...

4. What's worse-overly permissive parents or overly protective parents?  Did your own parents lean more to the permissive or the protective category?  If you're a parent where do you fall?
I think either one can be bad.  You have to give them enough freedom to experience life but enough protection so they don't get hurt.  They are only kids once.  My parents were over protective.  I was not allowed to join in anything at school, or have any outside activities when I was growing up.  I felt like an outcast, and when I turned 18 I grew wings and could of went down the wrong road.  I think I was pretty even keeled with my daughter.  She had enough freedom to spread her wings and enjoy life but enough protection to know I was there when she needed me.  And she knew there were rules.

5.  Candlelight-moonlight-firelight-bright lights in the big city...which one's your favorite?
I love the bright lights of the city.  But I do prefer country firesides and moonlight.

6. Dr. Seuss's birthday was celebrated on Saturday. What's a favorite book you remember (Seuss or otherwise) from your own childhood?  Did books play an important role in your growing up years? Explain.
I loved Misty from Chincoteague and that series of books.  I loved reading as a child.  Books were my way of escaping my life, it was a way of having adventures, exploring new things.

7.  To quote Dr. Seuss...

"From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere."
from One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

Share something funny you've recently read, seen or heard.
The only thing I can think of is one I read today that made me chuckle -
There are some people who need a hug -
    ...around the neck
           ... with a rope.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
This is going to be a busy month, next Tuesday is my birthday so we will go out to dinner.  Thursday we are going to a Gaither Vocal Band concert.  Friday we leave for Arkansas - I need to get my grandkid fix, I am having withdrawals.  I have not seen them since Christmas.  We come home the following Thursday.  Then off to Iowa for his grandson's wedding reception.  Busy month, but a good busy - Nothing like family!

And Then There Was Snow...

I woke up on the 26th of February and we had about 3 inches of snow.  It was so pretty!  Of course I had to get out and take a few pictures and I am just now having time to share them.  Hope you enjoy!  These were all taken in our yard or from our driveway, I did not venture very far.

The two rainbow pictures were taken the day before.  Within a period of 30 minutes, we had rain, sunshine, rainbows, sleet and it started snowing.  One of those things, if you do not like the weather stick around because it is bound to change.

I am so glad we have a lil' bit of country across the street!

Hope there were no birdies at home!

I love how red they look in the snow!

Patiently waiting for me to go back in the house!

Nothing like capturing what God has given us!
