Thursday Tidbits...

Just a little recap on what's going on in my world lately.  I think maybe Spring is here. The trees are starting to get buds on them and the jonquils and irises are coming up.  I am so excited, I think my lilac bushes are going to be loaded in blooms this year.  I love lilacs.  Something about Spring, new life, new beginnings, Easter Celebrations!

I had a birthday last week - 58 years young.  What a celebration!  I received over 170 Birthday wishes on Facebook, a special email from our great grandson Ryan (Stan's grandson's boy). He is so precious.  And a special phone call from a young lady that has my heart. Eden Jade called and sung Happy Birthday to me.  My sweet daughter and SIL made my day.  They bought all of us tickets to a 35th Reunion Concert-Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee.  The Urban Cowboy Reunion Tour - talk about bringing back memories.  I went to their concert 35 years ago, back when I was single and crazy, good memories, but boy that made me feel old.

My sweet hubby made my day when we danced in the office to "I Will Always Love You."  He is so special, I Thank God every day for bringing him into my life!  That evening we went to the movies and out for dinner.  We had a really good time!

Last Thursday it rained off and on all day, it was so nice out!  I sat on our front porch steps for a long time.  While out there I had a visitor.  He was so cute!  And the more I talked to him the closer he got.  I could of reached out and touched him. When I got up and went for my camera I figured he would fly off and he did fly into the bushes.  When I sat back down and started talking to him, here he came.  He was not scared at all.  I really think he was to young to be scared.  And then a thought crossed mind...he's not scared because he knows God watches out for him.  God knows if he falls to the ground. He even cares about the little sparrow!

Life is Good!  Thank you Jesus!

Until next time...nel

Hopping back to the Hodgepodge...

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Come on, join in the fun you know you want too.  Just click on the button and grab the questions over by Joyce.  You will be glad you did!

1. Share a favorite song, book, or movie title containing the word green?
Two songs came to mind - 'Little Green Apples' and 'Ballad of the Green Beret'  These are oldies!

2. Ralph Waldo Emerson is quoted as saying, 'Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.' Would you agree? Are you a believer in luck?
I don't necessarily believe in luck, I believe everything happens for a reason and God is in control.

3. Spring water, Hot Springs, handspring, spring fling, spring break, spring fever, offspring...which 'spring' word best applies to something in your day, week, or life right now?

I believe Spring Fever would apply right now.  At times I feel like I spend a lot of time just sitting and dreaming, thinking about flowers coming up, and little animals and things I want to get accomplished.  I am so over cold weather, and sweatshirts and jackets.  Come on Spring!

4. What's something you do to make yourself look or feel more confident?

Right at the moment I can't think of anything.

5.  It's National Celery Month...are you a fan? If so, what's a snack or dish you enjoy that calls for celery?

I like celery with a little Ranch Dressing on it.  Love it in my chicken salad or egg salad sandwiches.

6. What's one thing you wish you'd learned sooner?
My interest in Genealogy...how to track things down, and perhaps I would of asked my mom questions about her ancestors, if I would of been interested.

7. Would you like to own a second home? If so where would you want that home to be?
We have a second home in Arkansas.  It is small, but it is our home away from home.  I am glad it is there because my grand kids can still come to granny's!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
Headed to Arkansas next week!  It is going to be a busy week.  The kids are out of school - Spring Break.  Was it not just Christmas?  My how time flies when we are having fun!  Lunch one day with a friend I used to work with. Tupperware party at the end of the week.  If anyone would like anything just click here on Janice's page and find my party.  I guess that is enough randoms...

My Corner of the Hodgepodge...

If you would like to join in, just click on the button above and hop over to Joyce's and grab the questions to answer on your corner of the Hodgepodge!

1. What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word 'spring'? Which phrase best describes the season of spring where you live right now (today)-sprung! almost there, or still waiting?
I always think of a flowerbed of crocus or daffodils. And I would say it is almost here.  Flowers are beginning to appear, no blooms yet.  And the trees are beginning to show life.  Did I mention I love Springtime!

2. Bed, couch, stapler, garage door, computer mouse, recliner, flashlight, door knob...which household item containing springs most needs replacing in your home? Speaking of springs...did you ever own a Slinky?
The garage door...what a pain!  Oh what fun I had with a Slinky! We had a basement and I could make mine walk down the stairs all the way to the bottom!  I wish I had an one laying around, I would make me a bird feeder out of it.

3. March is Women's History Month. Share a favorite quote by a woman.
'Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.'  Maya Angelou  Love that one!

4. What's a question that looms large in your mind right now?

I usually do not look to far into the future, you can make your self crazy doing that.  I guess my question would be - How will my Tupperware Party turn out. lol  deep huh?   haha

5. Are you a sugar freak? By that I mean how much do you love sugar? With all the bad press sugar gets these days, have you made any efforts to reduce the amount of sugar you consume?
I don't consider myself a sugar freak, more of a salt freak.

6. Would you rather have less work to do or more work you enjoy doing?

That is kinda hard to answer, I kind of like how it is right now.

7. Ever been to Texas? Of the top ten Texas tourist attractions which would you most like to see-The Alamo, The San Antonio River Walk, The State Capital, Dallas World Aquarium, Padre Island National Seashore, Houston Space Center, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Six Flags Fiesta Texas,  Moody Gardens, or Galveston Island?
I have been to Texas but I would love to see The Alamo, and The San Antonio River Walk.  Yep on my bucket list!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I am getting excited. We are headed to Arkansas in two weeks.  Nothing like spending time with those grand kids and making memories!  I am also hoping to see a few friends and family members I have not seen in forever at the Tupperware Party.  If any of you need anything you can order online here:  Nel's Totally Awesome Tupperware Party.
Have a great week!
