And The Vote Is Counted...

It is time for Flashback Friday again. Linda over at Mocha With Linda hosts this fun meme. Some of the prompts that she provides I can go on and on about but some not so much. And this week is a not so much week. If you would like to join in stop over by Linda’s and get the prompt for this week then make sure you link up so we can enjoy yours too.

This week we are remembering politics and voting. As I said this is going to be a short week. To be totally honest with you, I know my mom was not registered to vote, and I do not think my Dad was either. I had never really thought about it until now. I can’t really remember them discussing politics. I do remember them being upset when President Kennedy was shot. And I remember a few remarks about peanuts when Jimmy Carter was president, but that is all. As for myself I registered to vote when I turned 18 and have voted in the majority of the elections since then. We discussed voting alot in school, and I had a History teacher that really encouraged us to register to vote as soon as we could.  I think it is our duty as Americans to exercise our right to vote.

until next time… nel

  1. I knew this would be a relatively short one, but I still thought it would be interesting. Thanks for participating!

  2. I didn't think I'd have much to post today either, but I wrote anyway.
I'm really enjoying your thankful posts! So sweet.
    Have a good weekend,

  3. my mom was a lot like your parents, Nel (my dad died when I was really young). She registered to vote and did vote, but we didn't talk much about politics at home. She kept up with events but we didn't discuss it. Interestingly, hubby's family was the exact opposite in that they discussed and kept up with politics. So to this day, that's about how it is here. He's real involved, I'm aware of what is going on and we somewhat discussed issues with the kids through the years. I, like you, am registered to vote and have voted in at least the major elections and pretty much as many as I could. The sad thing with me is I haven't always been the most informed voter, so I need to work on that.

  4. Good deal, Nel. I am glad that you vote regularly. A lot don't but I don't know who they are. I vote every time I have an opportunity.
    ..
BTW, I also wrote on high school senior year as you guys did that one before I came.

  5. I agree! I figure if you don't vote you have no right to complain about anything.

  6. Good for you, Nel! I agree 100%. My parents always have voted, but they are veryyy private about it and never, EVER discuss for whom they vote.

Bill and I discuss politics with our sons frequently. They pretty much know our voting choices because they know our opinions about different issues. I never talk about my voting choices outside my family, though. I guess I'm more like my parents in that regard! ;-)
