Hodgepodging Summer...

Once again it is time for Wednesday Hodgepodge.  If you would like to join in click on the button above and head over to Joyce's world.  It is a fun way to meet some great blogging friends.
So here is mine:

1.  What is your favorite sight, sound, AND smell associated with summer?
I think as far as sight, I love to see families out walking together, or at the park together.  It seems during summer people do more activities together.  I love the sound of the ooohhhs and awws from the crowd watching the fireworks display.  Everyone just seems so in sync, too bad we can't stay that way and get along.  There are so many smells I love, the smell of freshly mowed grass, barbecues fired up, a summer rain.

2.  Fireflies or lightning bugs... what are they called in your neck of the woods?
We call them lightning bugs.  Nothing like seeing a field full of lightening bugs!

3.  What is something from the past week that reminded you of your childhood?
We passed a peach orchard on our way to Kansas City last Friday and that reminded me of childhood.  Mom always canned peaches, they were the best.  We would always go to the orchard and get at least 2 bushel baskets full.  They were so good, we had to eat on them while she was canning.  She always made sure they were "Freestone Peaches.'  They were much easier to remove the pit. mmmm good stuff!

4.  Define 'the good life'.
I think I am living the good life. We have a roof over our head, food in our freezer, and the man I love most by my side.  My daughter is only a phone call away and my grand kids are the best, what more can you ask for.  The only thing better is waiting for the other side, and the streets of glory.

5.  Tell us what we'd see if you took a snapshot of your desk/work space?
An organized mess... enough said! lolol

6.  Peaches or watermelon... yes you have to choose.
Since it is summer I will say watermelon.  I love watermelon!  We were talking about peaches when we passed an orchard the other day... hmmm there is my answer to number 3.  I can go back now and answer that one.  lolol.

7.  Ever been skinny dippin?
Well I didn't call it skinny dippin, I called it chunky dunkin.  There has never been a skinny bone in this girl's body.  And yes it was fun, you will just have to believe me, no details here!

8.  Random Thought.
I am getting excited about our trip to Panama City.  I know it is going to be hot, but cannot wait to walk the beach looking for shells and taking pictures.  We are staying in a cousin's condo right on the beach.  Can't wait to see the look on Eden's face when she sees all that sand and water.  Janice and her family are joining us.  Memories in the making!

until next time... nel

  2. Chunky dunkin'-that's hilarious : )

I didn't know until recently about the difference in using cling vs. freestone. We made a cobbler with cling and it was so hard to get the pits out! I guess when I was a kid I assumed a peach was a peach.

  3. Chunky dunk got a giggle out of me, too! When you're in PC, look for Thomas' Donuts in Laguna Beach (blue building right on front beach road). Best donuts in the world!

  6. Peaches are so good. I've never been a canner, but if I start, I'll remember Freestone. Chunky-dunk is what my dippin' would be called, if I dared try, which I don't think I would, unless it was pitch dark with no lightning bugs around and no people either!
