I am sure all of us at one time or another have made the statement, “this is heaven,” or “this feels like heaven.”  We can all agree what a wonderful feeling that is, however today I want to think about the place called Heaven, the place where I want to enjoy eternal life.  We try to imagine what Heaven will be like, being reunited with moms & dads, sisters & brothers, all those who call Heaven their home.  It boggles the mind at times. Can you imagine meeting Noah or Moses, or any of the other saints who have gone on?  And how about Jesus, face to face?  I can’t keep from thinking of a song by Jim Reeves, “This World Is Not My Home.”

Here are part of the lyrics:
This world is not my home
I'm just a-passin' through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.

“Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.  Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”        Psalm 73:24-25

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”      Matthew 6:19-21

“But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.”     Acts 7:55-56

How about you, where are your treasures?

until next time…nel

  1. I can't even imagine what Heaven is like. Those lyrics describe how I feel, too.

  2. Hello, Nel! I've definitely described something as heaven. Taking a walk on a gorgeous spring day, that first bite of chocolate cake, laughing with your favorite person in the world...heaven!
