Enjoying Creation...

I decided to change seasons on the blog. I am so ready for spring! I know winter is probably not over, but we had a beautiful day here in Missouri. The sun was shining most of the day and it reached 64 degrees. We had to run some errands, and then we came back by our city park here in Willard. It was so nice; a lot of people were out enjoying the weather, playing and flying kites. We decided to walk around so I could snap a few pictures.

The little pond is covered in moss, quite a sight, but the birds still enjoyed it. The blackbirds were having them a time splashing in the water. We sat and watched them for a long time, they were having so much fun.

And there is a pair of Canadian Geese that seems to have taken up residence.

I looked them up online, Wikipedia states:

The black head and neck with white "chinstrap" distinguish the Canada Goose from all other goose species, with the exception of the
Barnacle Goose, but the latter has a black breast, and also grey, rather than brownish, body plumage The male usually weighs 7–14 pounds, and can be very aggressive in defending territory. The female looks virtually identical but is slightly lighter at 5.5–12 pounds, generally 10% smaller than its male counterpart, and has a different honk.
During the second year of their lives, Canada Geese find a mate. They are monogamus, and most couples stay together all of their lives. If one is killed, the other may find a new mate. The female lays 3–8 eggs and both parents protect the nest while the eggs incubate, but the female spends more time at the nest than the male. During this incubation period, the adults lose their flight feathers so they cannot fly until their eggs hatch after 25–28 days.

After reading this it assured me that the one that came out of the water close to us was probably the male. We were getting to close to their territory. It will be fun to keep watch this spring for goslings. Just enjoying God’s Creation, that is what it’s all about!

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31a

until next time... nel

I can't believe with all your entries that you didn't win the Homespun Give-Away. I posted the Random Sequence Generator so you three would know how it worked and see it was truly random. Maybe next time. :)
