Bestest Friends...

Talk about fun, what can you say when two friends get together after 18 years. Kathy and I graduated high school together back in 1975. We were not only best friends, but partners in crime. The summer after high school, I was 18, she was 17 (she had to remind me of that) lol, we took off cross country to Colorado, a place we had always talked about, pulling a small pop up camper. We had a blast. Then the following summer we took off again for 2 weeks venturing over to the Grand Canyon, and a few other places. We were together all the time just hanging out, having fun.

Then in 1979 I moved to Arkansas, just felt like I needed a change. Kathy and I kept in touch, in fact I was her maid of honor when she got married in 1981. The last time I had seen her was about 18 years ago, but we did keep in touch, sometimes just at Christmas. She called me last Thursday and asked me what I was doing. Her and her hubby were going to see the Grand Canyon and to visit some of his family in Arizonia. And since they were passing thru, they wanted to stop by here. I was so excited.

We had such a good time, much to short of a visit but a wonderful time. They got in about 4:00 on Saturday and stayed till Sunday after church. We talked for awhile then decided to go out to eat. They wanted to go to Lamberts, the home of the thrown rolls, we waited for 2 hours, but it was well worth it. We had so much fun. After arriving back home we got on the computer and I showed her all of our classmates on Facebook, trying to convince her she needs to get on the computer too. We laughed and had such a good time remembering old times. My hubby asked her several questions and I loved her response, "I don't remember anything." lolol That is a bestest friend! They know alot about you but don't tell anything...hehehe.

Sunday morning we got up and I fixed breakfast, then we got ready for church. This was very special for both of us, you see neither one of us were Christians or attended church back in the day, and to actually be in church together worshipping the Lord was so awesome. We attend a very small church, which we love. Everyone welcomed them with open arms. After services we talked for awhile, and got a few pictures, then we had to bid our goodbyes. They needed to get on the road. Hopefully it will not be 18 years before we see each other again. But one thing for sure, if it is we will just pick up where we left off. That is what bestest friends do!

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

until next time... nel

  3. What a wonderful post Nel. Being reunited with old friends is the best. I have an old friend that I still keep in touch with and see sometimes that makes me think of the kind of relationship that you had with Kathy. You just can't replace friends like that. :)
