On our way to church this morning we were listening to a Christian radio station that broadcasts messages by Charles Stanley. I enjoy listening to his messages and have read several of his books. In my opinion, he is a very knowledgeable Christ-centered man.
This morning we only caught the end of his message, but something he said caught my attention. He was talking about teens and dealing with different situations, particularly breaking curfew. He said his mom had a wonderful way of dealing with this situation. When they would come in late, or if she felt the need, she would proceed to say, “ So tell me what you want me to know.” Yes, that does sound kind of strange, but think about it a minute. Would it not be better than arguments and shouting matches, slammed doors, and things said that you are sorry of later. Tell me what you want to know… he said this helped him in a lot of decisions, because he knew mom would be there when he got home.
I was lucky with my daughter, she was not a normal teenager, believe me she had her moments, but she and her friends were usually at our house. We have always had a close relationship, and I Thank God for that every day!
Tell me what you want me to know… We do not have that choice with our Father in Heaven. He knows what we are thinking, knows how we spend our free time, and knows where we go and what we do… The real question, “Is He pleased?”
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” 1John 3:22

Hmmm...I'd like to hear the rest of that broadcast! That sounds a little unusual. I would be more likely to say, "Tell me everything NOW...don't keep anything from me, because you know I'm going to find out anyway!" LOL

I used to work around the corner from 1stBaptist/Atlanta where Dr. Stanley spoke each Sunday...we loved going to hear him preach...we all took notes, this was in the 80's and I was dating a boy who was at Georgia Tech. We so loved being at Dr. Stanley's feet while he preached...their church is now in a much larger location on the north side of Atlanta...and his son, Andy, has his own church in Gwinnett County...I know several people who have recently been to hear him.
