Remember us...

Thought I better drop in before people think I have dropped off the face of the earth. It has been a busy time in the Fastenau household.

Stan, my husband had his eye surgery two weeks ago and the doctor was real pleased with the way it looked, however he had warned us from the beginning it might take more than one surgery. Yesterday at 11:00 he had his follow-up appointment in Kansas City. Needless to say, it was not what we had hoped and prayed for. There was still a little fluid behind the retina and two new pinholes. Nothing either one did caused this, it just sometimes happens. Bless his heart, this week he has to lie with his good eye down and his nose touching the bed on an angle at least 30 minutes of every hour during the day. This will hopefully cause the gas bubble to push the extra fluid out. If we can get the fluid out, I think I understood him to say he can use the laser gun and seal the pinholes; otherwise he will have to do complete surgery again. Please remember to pray for my husband. It is very scary when it comes to the eyes.

On a second note, Please remember my daughter, Janice; my grandbaby, Eden; Jan’s step-mom, Gina and her two kids, tomorrow as they represent Team Eden in the March For Babies Walk in Little Rock, AR. Unfortunately, I cannot join them due to Stan’s eye problems, but my daughter is turning in my paperwork and donations. Thanks to all those who donated! Our team as a whole raised $540. Praise the Lord!

Christmas in April

It’s here; it’s here… just like Christmas. I received my package from my dear friend Beth over at Outnumbered, Three-to-One. She recently wrote her 100th post on her blog, and to celebrate this milestone she had a giveaway. Actually 2 giveaways, and I was one of the winners. Praise the Lord!

Opening my package, I was like a kid at Christmas, you have to realize very seldom do I win anything! As you can see from the picture there were all kinds of goodies: the coolest cookbook put together by her church group, those are the best! The neatest book “A Mother’s Garden of Prayer.” It includes prayers for almost every occasion, conflict or decision a child can face throughout their life. Perfect for a mom and a granny! Also there was a Magnetic List Pad to put on the refrigerator, which I needed for our getaway house in Arkansas, a package of note cards and a bunny bag with a box of Lindor Truffles. To Die For! I had never tasted a Truffle before… I know deprived, what can I say? After I tried one, I could have kicked myself for sharing with my hubby… just kidding dear! They are so good!

I would like to thank Beth for her generous giveaway. She is such an awesome friend, a sister-in-Christ. If you have not read her blog, please stop by her corner and check her out. I am sure she will make you smile, especially on Mondays! LOL. You can click on her name and it will take you there. Again…Thanks Beth!

Kansas City Bound

We spent two days in Kansas City, Missouri this last week. While we were there we enjoyed walking through the Hallmark Visitor Center. It was very interesting. We watched a short movie focusing on the artists, and writers who work for Hallmark. It was amazing to look at the 90-year timeline, which includes samples of Hallmark products as well as photographs, press clippings, awards and other memorabilia. We were able to talk with a press operator and watch an anniversary card being produced. I was amazed that all the cards are checked by hand for any flaws. If you ever get a chance, stop by and walk through the visitor center.

We also went to the Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden. If you love plants and flowers, you need to check this out. I can only imagine how beautiful it is when everything is bloomed and the fountains are on, because the part that we seen was breathtaking. I will include a couple pictures here, and you can click on my link “Pictures I Have Taken” to see all of them.

On a different note, please remember my husband, Stan in prayer. He is having eye surgery next Thursday in Kansas City for a detached retina. We will be there for two nights.
