E is for Eternal Life
Of course the dictionary
does not have the definition of eternal life but here is the definition of
eternal:
1
a : having
infinite duration :
c : characterized
by abiding fellowship with God eternal life? — Mark 10:17(Revised Standard
Version)>
2 a : continued
without intermission :
b : seemingly
endless <eternal delays>
4 valid or existing at all
times :
I would conclude that a
definition for eternal life could be:
live everlasting or life without end.
“And when he was gone forth
into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good
Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good?
There is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not
kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father
and mother. And he answered and
said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said
unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell
whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in
heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying,
and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.” Mark 10:17-22
I don’t believe
this passage of scripture is telling us to go sell everything but it is trying
to point out if money or material things are more important to you than God
then you have a problem. Anything that
we have or desire to have should not keep us from serving God.
“For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that
the world through him might be saved, John
3:16-17
He provides a
way for everyone to have eternal life, if we just accept Him in our heart believing and live for Him.
“And many other
signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written
in this book: but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his
name.” John 20:30-31
How about you, where are you spending Eternal Life?
No "E" word is better than this!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, Nel. ☺
It's all about putting God first. He commands us to love him with all our hearts and then to love others. It's a priority thing.
ReplyDeleteAND we all need to work on that.
I'm so tired. I typed my comment then X-d out instead of hitting publish. What I said was I liked your choice of E words and also what Teresa says.
