As Christians we need to
strive to read and study our Bible, to understand the Scriptures and be able to
apply them to our lives and situations. We need to be able to discern between
right and wrong and be able to recognize evil and false prophets. The stronger and older we grow in the Lord
the better our ability to discern will be.
“But strong meat belongeth
to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses
exercised to discern both good and evil.”
Hebrews
5:14
“Beloved, believe not every
spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false
prophets are gone out into the world.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth
not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that
spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that is should come; and even now
already is it in the world.” 1 John
4:1-6
