This song has been on my heart this week. Maybe thinking back over my life while doing the “100 items that pertain to me” post reminded me, “I was once that girl that was running.” It made me wonder how many people are right around us that we do not even realize are running. My prayer is that Jesus will open up our eyes and let us see those around us who need our friendship, who need a kind word, who need Him. And that we will see them thru loving eyes.
Does Anybody Hear Her?
by Casting Crowns
She is running
A hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
She is trying but the canyon's ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older
And she's three more steps behind
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
She is yearning for shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching for a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
And in walks her prince charming
And he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason
And she gives herself away
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her
If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her
Never even met her, never even met her
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Does anybody even know she's going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
He is running a hundred miles an hour
In the wrong direction

ReplyDeleteI love the message in this song...
ReplyDeleteThis question you asked is right on the mark...
"how many people are right around us that we do not even realize are running."
Love the message of this song as well. God has recently and profoundly been speaking to my heart about those on the "fringe"--those running in the wrong direction and not even realizing where they're headed. How I pray to host a Jesus heart that will love them where they are.

They showed this video in church about a year back and I remember it being passed around on facebook about the same time, but I haven't seen /heard it since then and had forgotten it. Thanks for reminding me about this great song.
ReplyDeleteLove this song, Nel! I think we've all been that running girl at some point in our life. I often pray that the Lord will open my eyes to the hurting people I encounter each day and I can share His light.
