Laurie was the one continually running in her life, running from life’s problems, from relationships, from God, but never even realized it. To soothe her aching heart she decides to rescue an abused and neglected dog, however in the end the dog is the one doing the rescuing. Mia, the dog has all kinds of health problems from her abused life, along with diabetes. Mia ends up loosing her eyesight, but still she is the one who rescues Laurie from her lifestyle. Here are a couple of quotes from the book: “When we choose joy, our problems don’t go away, but our sorrow and low self-esteem do.” “God is with us, whether we are running away from him or to him.” At the end of the book Laurie says, “It’s true. For the rest of my life, I’ll be grateful for this fact: my dog was blind…but now I see.”
