On A Mission...

I have been on an organizational mission this week. I cleaned my bedroom closet and emptied boxes and placed things in tubs. I ended up with 2 tubs of material, a tub of craft items, and a tub of papers and treasures. My hubby could not believe that 4 tubs of stuff came out of the closet. They really didn’t, there were 2 partially full tubs stacked in the corner of the bedroom, but we won’t mention that to him. Hmmm... that almost sounds like a Not-Me-Monday post. Now my problem was I had 4 tubs that needed to be stored somewhere, actually I had 6 tubs, because I had 2 tubs of pictures in the office. I wanted to place them somewhere that I could get to them easily. The logical place was the garage downstairs from our office, but as you can tell looking at the first picture, this was easier said than done.

Thus my second mission. With my husband’s help we straightened up the garage, and restacked the boxes, put Patt’s pictures in a tub and threw out empty boxes. We won’t talk about my husband and empty boxes… He just cannot bring himself to throw an empty box out. We then carried my 6 tubs downstairs and stacked them against the back wall. Needless to say, the next time I say hey honey you want to help me; he may run the other way. We were both quite tired when we got thru. But it looks a lot better than it did.

All in all, it has been a quiet week in the Fastenau household. Not a lot going on, I am not complaining, sometimes stillness is nice. It is in the quiet stillness, we can here the voice of God and really feel his presence.

"And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat." Mark 6:31

Welcome to Blogging & Pictures and Memories...

First of all... I would like to welcome a friend of mine to the world of blogging. Please check out her blog. Her name is Christina and she graduated with my daughter, but I consider her my friend also. She has an adorable little boy that you can meet and she has a heart of gold! She is at HOUSE OF QUALLS.

A couple of posts back; I mentioned the big snowman that we made when I was a kid. I was looking through pictures yesterday and ran across them. So of course I have to share them with you.

I was all of 17, maybe 18, young and carefree, not a care in the world. As you can see from the pictures it was pretty big. I am 5 ft ½ inch and it was quite a bit taller than me. Those were good times and great memories.
While looking through pictures I pulled out several more. I guess it is that ornery side in me coming out. I am planning on posting some of them to my facebook account, some of my daughter and her friends at graduation, a few of different people when they were young. I enjoy looking back through pictures, sooo many memories, some good, some not so good.
When my daughter was in her teens, I was the Youth Leader at our church. We had a good group of teens. I ran across several pictures of them, one in particular made me laugh. We had a lock-in at the church and were playing games, having fun. This particular game they had a pair of pantyhose tied around their waist with an orange in one of the legs and it hanging in front touching the floor. They had to use it to knock another orange across the room. And yes, I caught this on film. What a Kodak moment. Using my better judgment I decided against posting those. They might kill me.
Speaking of pictures, one of my goals is to get names on the back of all my mom’s pictures and put them on a cd for my brothers. That will be quite a job, but it needs to be done. I also need to put names on the backs of mine. There are some of them that my daughter would have no clue who they are. And who knows, I might not always remember who they are, but it is such a good feeling to know, that even though we may forget, our Lord Jesus never forgets!

“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fe ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!!

In A Rut...

Do you ever feel like you are stuck in a rut? Time seems like it is flying by and you are sitting still. Not doing anything.

Oh I stay busy, usually on the computer or reading. But this is always the hardest part of the year for me. There is a 2-½ month span, where it seems like we are at home day in and day out.

We seem to hibernate during cold weather. I hate getting out in the cold; it just chills me to the bone. And this weather is crazy. Cold one day and warm the next. We have been fighting colds and sinus infections.

I think I need to get a sewing project started. I have been looking at dresses in the catalog for Easter. Maybe I will just make me one. And I know a little girl in Arkansas, which could use a dress from Granny. Hmmmm sounds like a plan to me.
